PedidosYa builds logistics hub in Buenos Aires to optimize delivery

PedidosYa is the market leader in last-mile delivery in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Panama, Paraguay, and Uruguay, with a presence in over 15,000 restaurants in 400 cities across Latin America. Headquartered in Montevideo, PedidosYa also has offices in Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo and employs 450 people.

The delivery service recently announced the opening of a logistics ‘hub’ in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, the first of its kind in the region. The logistics office will bring together the entire company’s logistics team to improve efficiency for deliveries.

Their efforts are already bearing some fruit; PedidosYa now uses a mobile app that functions like Uber to find the closest delivery ‘rider’ to complete the order. This update lowered their delivery time to an average of 35 minutes. The new app even allows customers to track their riders in real time.

Last-mile delivery has become an incredibly competitive market in Latin America as consumers begin to expect an on-demand economy. While PedidosYa is currently the market leader, other delivery apps such as Rappi, Cornershop, and Mercadoni have made strong inroads in the Latin American market over the past year.
