Amazon opens first customer service center in Bogotá

Amazon has slowly been making inroads in Latin America, starting with delivery centers in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Mexico. Now the giant tech company is building a customer service center in Colombia’s capital that will employ 600 people to answer customer concerns from across the globe. This move is meant to help Amazon stay in close touch with its international customer base, especially those that require service in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

The new center will open next October in the Connecta Center, and will provide opportunities for Colombians to work in customer service positions from the office, or from home. Colombia was one of the first countries in the region to adopt Amazon Web Services when they reached Latin America in 2017, and is now a key player in Amazon’s expansion in Latin America.

Said Flavia Santoro, President of ProColombia:

Colombia “has become a center of business and IT services for the world, thanks to our strategic geographic location, our skilled workers, our favorable business environment, and our access to diverse emerging markets. “
