LatAm List – Several Cuban delegates recently visited the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico to attend an entrepreneurship and innovation course, presumably to bring knowledge back to the island. Specifically, the delegates learned design thinking and new business management as they toured the hubs of innovation in the area.
The Cuban government workers were hosted by the Yucatecan Entrepreneurs Institute (IYEM in its Spanish acronym) who brought them to visit the Yucatan’s technological park, a design center called FabLab Yucatán, and the Municipal Entrepreneurship Center in the region’s capital.
The delegates also visited several universities and two startups, BURI and Antalika’a, that exemplify social entrepreneurship in Mexico.
In Cuba, we are experiencing substantial changes; this is an opportunity for IYEM to bring its knowledge, success, and experience to our country,” said Jorge Freddy Ramirez Perez, representative of the Universidad Pinar del Rio in Cuba.
