Cabify expands into Mexico’s shared scooters and electric motorcycles market

LatAm List – The Spanish company prepares to join the Mexican market as was discussed last year in their expansion plan.

Ramón Escobar, the new general manager in Mexico, said that the scooter and electric motorcycle services will be available in the coming months. The plan is to release the new services in Mexico under their new brand Movo’, which has already debuted in Spain in 2018. The brand will be competing with other international as well as local firms, such as Grin and Lime.

Mexico has recently joined the group of Latin American countries where Cabify users can request taxis provided by their now sister brand Easy, through an in-app category called Economy. While those who need a private car must opt for the premium Lite services.

“We want to keep building on the opportunity to provide more (mobility) options to our users through one platform”, said Vicente Pascual, Cabify Spain’s general manager.

Cabify’s founder, Juan de Antonio, confirmed that the company is working towards being listed on the stock exchange now that their cost structure allows it. However, details will not be disclosed until the announcement has been made official.
