Dorm Room Fund invests in Brazil’s EmCasa

LatAm ListDorm Room Fund, an American venture capital firm that focuses on investing in student-run startups, announced an investment in  Brazilian tech real estate brokerage EmCasa.

The founder of the startup, Gustavo Vaz, served as Global COO at EasyTaxi and led its expansion throughout Latin America before turning to more familiar territory, the real estate industry. As the son of a real estate agent, he experienced first-hand the stresses of buying and selling a home and saw an opportunity in the Brazilian market.

According to Dorm Fund Room, EmCasa does away with physical offices, offering a more capital-efficient model. The company uses virtual reality tours to give potential buyers a better sense of a home before a formal visit, and likewise, sellers can also avoid hosting unlikely buyers. EmCasa uses its proprietary data to provide property valuation and location recommendations to its clients.

Dorm Room Fund provides its founders with a strong network of investors and access to world-class mentors, alongside the investment.
