Facebook and Parallel18 launch their accelerator program

LatAm ListStartup Hub Caribbean is a three-month accelerator program led by Facebook and Parallel18, a Puerto Rican accelerator. Recently, the accelerator launched its first generation of fintech startups from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic.

Facebook’s Head of Product Partnerships and Developer Programs in Latin America, Tuli Cipriota, said that the program seeks to promote entrepreneurs that are part of the Caribbean fintech ecosystem and have a validated business that tackles one of the UN’s objectives for sustainable development.

The participating startups have access to mentors from Facebook that provide support in Design, Data Science, and Marketing. The entrepreneurs do a portion of the program remotely, but otherwise they will use Parallel18’s coworking space in Puerto Rico.

Ten startups were selected: Agrobeads (Puerto Rico), SharpFocusVr (Puerto Rico), Stageboom (Puerto Rico), Hacker Hostel (Jamaica), Queritel (Jamaica), EduPass (Dominican Republic), Jompeame (Dominican Republic), Okus (Dominican Republic), Tagshell (Dominican Republic), and YoYo (Dominican Republic).
