Rappi and Visa launch card in Brazil

LatAm List –  Rappi, as part of its strategy to become a super app and in partnership with Visa, announced the arrival of its debit card in Brazil. The card offers a cost-effective financial solution that can be used by unbanked people, and has already been launched in Colombia.

The prepaid card can be used for online shopping and even to pay for streaming services and transportation applications. Users can add money to the Rappi card through a money transfer via RappiPay, a bank transfer or a ticket.

The merger with Visa, which was announced in April, is aimed at accelerating digital commerce and financial inclusion in Latin America.

“We are always looking for ways to simplify the lives of our users and help them in their day to day lives. The launch of the prepaid card with Visa is yet another innovative offer designed with customers in mind. It is a democratic means of payment that avoids the bureaucracy of traditional banking agencies,” said Sebastián Mejía, co founder and president of Rappi.

“This launch has extensive growth potential and a significant differential in the benefits offered. Visa generated more value to the product by further promoting convenience, benefits and security, and strengthening the partnership with Rappi that extends throughout Latin America,” said Fernando Pantaleon, Sales and Solutions Vice President for Trade at Visa do Brasil.
