Brazilian-Chinese rideshare company, 99, to launch food delivery app in Brazil

LatAm List99, a Brazilian rideshare service acquired by Chinese company Didi Chuxing in 2018, has launched 99Food, a food delivery app, in Brazil.

Didi Chuxing previously launched DidiFood into Mexico where it is was met enthusiastically by restaurants and users, 30% of whom had never previously used a food delivery app. 99Food represents further growth of the Chinese company into the Brazilian market where it has already made significant investments.

ā€œWe are very excited to offer people, restaurants and delivery companies a competitive food delivery option in Brazil, with the advantage of the network of 19 million users 99 already has in the country,ā€ says Danilo Mansano, Head of Operations of 99.

The app will be competing in Brazil with Movileā€™s iFood, the food delivery app preferred by 29% of customers, followed by Pedidos Ya, UberEats, and the Colombian Rappi. iFood reached a peak of 600K daily orders this year in Brazil and 10.8M users

There is no official release date for 99Food in Brazil as of yet; however, tests will start soon in the domestic market.
