Akua raises a $4.3M seed round

Colombian fintech Akua raised a $4.2M seed round from Propel, H20, Rally Cap, Flourish Ventures, Plug & Play, ICVentures, and angel investors.

Akua will use the funds to develop its platform, aiming to launch in Colombia in 2025.

“We will be the first startup to offer a platform for processing any payment rail  with the purpose of bringing efficiency, productivity, and immediacy to consumers,” said Carlos Marín, Akua’s Co-Founder and CEO.

Akua provides an acquirer-as-a-service platform, allowing businesses to directly manage and process transactions in real time.

Akua was founded in 2024 by former employees of payment companies: Carlos Marín (Mastercard, Pomelo and PayU), José Behrend (dLocal and Pomelo), and Rodrigo Rodrigues (Mastercard and Movii).
