BossaBox raises $1.5M funding round led by Astella Investimentos

LatamListBossaBox, a Brazilian digital solutions startup, raised a $1.5M (R$8M) funding round led by Astella Investimentos. Redpoint eventures and MIT Angels also participated in the round.

BossaBox is a full-solution startup for building digital products. Modeled on a platform, the startup connects independent technology professionals with major companies to provide them with digital software.

“BossaBox brings the typical mental model to the development teams of exponentially growing startups for the corporate world in digital transformation. The solution allows managers to keep their focus on corporate strategies in addition to providing them with digital products to differentiate themselves quickly and efficiently,” said Marcel Sato, partner at Astella Investimentos.

BossaBox currently has more than 10,000 registered professionals and has already developed over 90 projects across Brazil. BoosaBox assesses freelancers’ skills through a rigorous selection process before matching them with relevent projects.

The startup is dedicated to increasing diversity, and part of the new funding will go towards training and developing their team of connected freelancers. BossaBox also actively supports initiatives such as Reprograma, a project that trains women in technology, and to which the company donated all the revenue from its Product Masterclass event.

The startup has attracted major companies such as Omo, neoenergia, and Hering, in Brazil. The founders aim to triple its revenue by the end of 2020, closing the year at $2M (R$11M).
