Brazilian EdTech receives $700K investment from Smart Money Ventures

LatAm ListGama Academy, a Brazilian corporate training edtech for professionals in the tech industry, received a $700K (R$3M) investment from Smart Money Ventures.

Gama Academy is an online learning platform that offers courses in programming, design, marketing, and sales strategy to professionals. The startup currently has more than 3,000 students using its platform and is looking to continue growing.

The investment from Smart Money Ventures, a São Paolo based VC firm, will be used to expand Gama Academy into a further ten cities in Brazil, launch new online courses, and continue to grow the corporate team.

There are an estimated 750,000 vacancies in the tech industry in Brazil in 2020, according to a study by Brasscom. Gama Academy is working to fill these vacancies through its program.

“Gama Academy is revolutionizing the way in which new talent is found, recruited, and taught in order to provide startups and companies with trained professionals,” commented Fábio Póvoa, General Director at Smart Money Ventures and also Head of Mobile Service and Co-founder of Movile, the Brazilian tech giant.
