Edtech Outsmart Education raised a $13M round led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Latitud Ventures, Karman Ventures, 20Growth, and former Airbnb Product Lead Lenny Rachitsky.

Outsmart aims to tackle long-standing challenges in higher education, including rising tuition costs, mounting student debt, and low graduation rates. Fresh out of stealth, Outsmart has not yet shared details about its product offerings.

Outsmart will use the funds to build its platform and suite of scalable solutions, focusing on degree affordability and student retention.

“Higher education hasn’t changed much in decades, but the problems just keep piling up. Rising tuition, $1.7T in student debt, and over 36M dropouts show how broken the system is, while 40% of recent graduates remain underemployed. Our goal is to transform this model and make quality education accessible and affordable for everyone,” said Gina Gotthilf, co-founder and CMO of Outsmart Education.

Former Duolingo executives Jorge Mazal, Gina Gotthilf, and Daniel Falabella founded Outsmart and bring over 15 years of collective experience in edtech.
