Foodology, a Colombian foodtech, raised a $15M Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Base Partners. Kayyak Ventures and Jaguar Ventures (Wollef) also participated alongside a group of angel investors.
Foodology is a cloud-based kitchen network using smart data to assess user preferences and cross-reference these with nearby food outlets to then create original dishes in conjunction with delivery options. The startup currently has 20 kitchens across Colombia and 10 in Mexico, each operating between seven and 10 food brands.
Co-founders Daniela Izquierda and Juan Guillermo Azuero started the company with the aim to improve the food delivery customer experience. The startup built a cloud-based kitchen model that enables it to rapidly scale original restaurant brands across Latin America, helping them to boost business and customer satisfaction.
“We wanted to bring in technology and data to the food delivery industry to make it more efficient and prepared for a virtual world,” said Izquierda.
The new funding will enable the foodtech to open another six kitchens, and also to launch into Peru and Brazil next year.
