LatamList – Fundación Chile, a Chilean VC fund, announced the winners of its “COVID – Colaboración y Vida” innovation competition. The initiative dedicated $48K (CLP$37M) to startups with innovative solutions to the current crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In total, 560 startups applied for a share of the $48K fund provided by Entel, CMPC, and Microsoft Chile. Only four were selected, three of which are Chilean and one from Colombia:
- Lightwash: uses UV light to disinfect clothing and PPE for health workers.
- Consultok: an online platform that offers support and advice to entrepreneurs and professionals in multiple industries.
- MIDE: an application that facilitates remote learning in rural areas where internet connections are less reliable.
- Localshop: a platform that supports both vulnerable people and small businesses by connecting local stores to shoppers.
“The results of the competition demonstrate the key role of entrepreneurs during times of crisis in designing smart and scalable solutions with social impact,” commented Marcos Kulka, Director General of Fundación Chile.
Each project will receive a portion of the $48K fund to continue their work providing real-time solutions to the current global crisis.
