LatAm List – The MeuID app will be used to biometrically verify the identity of doctors and patients as Brazil proceeds with the implementation of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Brazilian Federal Senate authorized the use of telemedicine to ensure social distancing during the COVID-19 as an emergency basis, valid for the duration of the pandemic.
The MeuID app from Idwall, a digital identity startup, uses face-recognition technology to identify patients and doctors, connecting them to their medical records which are stored online. Each user’s personal data is guarded with advanced cyber-security
“Telemedicine is essential in the fight against the Coronavirus. Doctors will be able to attend at a distance, according to their specialties and within their ethical limits,” said Dr Frederico, the rapporteur of the government bill.
The MeuID App will help Brazil to safely proceed with the implementation of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing patients to seek medical treatment without putting them at risk of contracting the virus.
