Incode raises $220M to become a unicorn

Incode, an identity verification startup, raised a $220M Series B funding round led by General Atlantic and Softbank. The round brings the startup’s valuation to over $1B, making it a “unicorn”.

Incode is a Mexican security startup that uses AI technology to verify people’s identities in a quick and easy process. Companies such as Rappi, Ualá, and Nubank, use the software to facilitate online payments, bookings and registrations, and much more.

The startup is the sixth Mexican company to become a unicorn. Incode will use the new funding to continue regional growth, and to expand internationally into the US, Europe, and Asia.
