LatAm List – Nubank, a Brazilian neobank, announced the creation of a $3.8M (R$20M) fund to help support its clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The startup made partnerships with companies such as iFood, Rappi, Hospital Sírio-Libanês, and Zenklub to provide psychological care, food delivery, and medical assistance from pharmacies through the fund.
Nubank will grant credits to customers who are unable to leave their homes to do groceries, enabling them to get free food delivery through iFood and Rappi. All expenses will be paid by the neobank.
In partnership with Hospital Sírio-Libanês, clients will have access to online appointments with the hospital via video at zero cost. The hospital made 1,000 consultations available to the fintech’s customers free of charge. Nubank will also use the fund to increase this amount when necessary.
Furthermore, Nubank will provide vouchers of up to $19 (R$100) to be used on Zee.Now, an online pet shop application operating in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Customers can access these services through Nubank via phone, chat, or email. More information can be found on the website.
“We are going beyond money. We will donate what is most precious to us: our time and energy to listen to people and help them as much as possible, going beyond their financial lives. This is our DNA,” said David Vélez, CEO and founder of Nubank. “Our expectation is to support tens of thousands of people by the end of April.”
