Plata raises $250M, reaching a $3.1B valuation

Mexico-based fintech Plata raised $250M in a funding round that valued the company at $3.1B. The round included participation from Kora, Moore Strategic Ventures, and TelevisaUnivision, following its Series A  from early 2025.

Founded in 2023 by Neri Tollardo and Danil Anisimov, Plata aims to democratize financial services for Mexico’s underbanked population. The company operates a proprietary AI-powered, cloud-native core banking system that delivers flexible and transparent credit products.

With the new capital, Plata is preparing to launch full banking services, expanding beyond credit cards to include payroll access, debit accounts, SME lending, and cross-border financial products.

Since its launch, Plata has grown from 100 to over 3,000 employees, serving more than two million active users and issuing about 10% of all new credit cards in Mexico.
