Vopero raises $7.5M for recycled clothes platform

Vopero, a reworked clothing site, raised a $7.5M funding round led by Grupo Axo and thredUP, two companies with a large presence in the fashion industry.

Vopero is a sales platform for ‘reworked’ clothes. Individuals can sell their used clothes to others as a means of recycling clothes instead of just throwing them out.

Founded in 2020 by Alejandro Esperanza and Maggie Ferber, the startup has already gained significant traction in the Latin American market. Vopero launched in Mexico in April this year and already counts more than 3,000 merchants on its platform, ranging from designers to shops and clothing brands.

“Vopero is a company with huge potential and rapid growth. It is offering new buying and selling options to customers at the same time as keeping sustainability at its core,” said Andrés Gomez, CEO of Grupo Axo.

Grupo Axo is the leading representative of clothing brands in Latin America, while thredUP is one of the largest reworked clothing sites in the United States. The startup is also backed by two founders of PedidosYa who are both investors in Vopero and mentors to the founders.

Vopero is now looking to expand into more markets in Latin America, starting with Brazil and Colombia.
