Argentine edtech startup selected to compete in Seedstars competition in Switzerland

Seven startups competed at Buenos Aires coworking space HIT Tecno for the chance to battle for US$1M in the international Seedstars World competition. Just one made the cut. Blended is an edtech startup that helps schools communicate in real-time with parents about their children’s progress.

“Currently, 90% of Latin America’s 700,000 schools use paper and email to administrate their processes, which are expensive and rudimentary tools,” said Nicolás Giménez, CEO of Blended.

The platform consists of a mobile app for parents that provides a feed where information about the school is published. Blended already has 300,000 users across 200 schools in Argentina and has displaced other companies with over 25 years market experience.

Blended previously received US$200K from Wayra, Telefonica’s startup accelerator, and has a presence in Chile and Uruguay. In April, Blended will compete alongside other global startups in the Seedstars World championships, hoping to receive US$1M to expand their business to Peru and Colombia.
