Copel launches new fund focused on energy transition

Copel (Companhia Paranaense de Energia), a Brazilian energy company, launched Copel Ventures I, a fund focused on energy transition, together with Vox Capital.

The fund is looking to invest in 15 startups looking for Seed and Series A investments and the size of the ticket will vary between $410,000 and $2M. The fund will invest in startups that operate in five key areas: renewable and clean energy, innovative internal processes aligned with ESG best practices, energy as a service, smart cities, and energy efficiency.

Copel is a 68-year-old energy company focused on generating, distributing, and commercializing energy in Brazil. The fund, however, is going to invest both in Brazil and abroad.
