Fintual is a robo-advisor that helps people make investments based on their interests and background. Last year, they were recognized as the best Latin American fintech company by Village Capital, and Fintual currently receives backing from PayPal, BlackRock, and CitiBanamex.
Fintual was recently invited to Silicon Valley to participate in the final selection round for the highly-prestigious Y Combinator accelerator, which has incubated such Latin American startups as Platzi, Rappi, and Hogaru. Since 2005, only one other company based in Chile has reached the Y Combinator; however, themidgame is a Colombian-founded company that found its way to Chile through Start-Up Chile.
Said co-founder Pedro Pineda in the original article for PulsoSocial:
“This is the second time we’ve reached the final round. Last year, we also reached the final round and this year they asked us to apply again, since 40% of the startups they accept are in their second application round. That’s why we’re here.”
The founders were honored to be invited, all expenses paid, to San Francisco for a second time for the final ten minute interview. The Y Combinator invitation is perfectly timed as Fintual plans expansion into Mexico, Colombia, and Peru later this year.
