LatAm List – Mexico’s Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT) announced this week that it would budget over MX$622.8M toward its “Internet for all” campaign in order to improve connectivity in Mexico. This project makes up one pillar of the five infrastructure projects set out by the ministry for this year.

The program will focus on improving telecom connections and upgrading current networks to higher speed Internet. It will also focus on making these systems more accessible to small businesses, schools, and social and community organizations.

The “Internet para todos” initiative will also work to improve digital inclusion and promote tech development within the government. Currently, around 64% of Mexico’s population has access to the Internet.
