Crehana raises US$4.5M from Acumen Capital

LatAm ListCrehana, a Peruvian startup that offers online courses for creative professionals, raised a US$4.5M investment round led by investment fund Acumen Capital, along with participation from Mexican funds Mountain Nazca and Dila Capital.

The online education platform focuses on preparing its students for the creative and digital industries. The new resources will be used to broaden their course offer, develop new products, and to consolidate its presence in Mexico, Peru, and Colombia.

“More than 50% of capital will be used to grow our brand presence in our main operating markets,” says Diego Olcese, CEO and founder at Crehana.

Along with Rodolfo Dañino, Olcese founded the company in 2015 and raised a total of US$6.2M in three rounds of investment.

“We are very happy to be associated with Crehana’s team. They’re solving a huge problem in Latin America by providing access to quality education through technology,” says Santiago Álvarez, Investment Director at Acumen Capital.

Crehana has more than 650,000 students in more than 20 countries using its platform. Olcese informs that students with a Crehana diploma have reported a 36% increase in their incomes, new job positions, or started their own businesses.

The company currently has offices in Mexico and Peru, but is considering duplicating its current team and expanding its operations into other Latin American countries throughout the year.
