Thomson Reuters chairman takes 15% stake in Argentine Brubank

LatAm List – Canadian media magnate David Thomson, chairman of Thomson Reuters, recently took a 15% stake in Brubank, an Argentine digital bank founded by Juan Bruchou

The total transaction amount remains undisclosed.

He added, “Simplicity, transparency, and quality are part of our value proposal. [Brubank] offers a disruptive business model in today’s business ecosystem. It has great potential, both in Argentina and in Latin America, for being a trustworthy and solid business. Brubank’s mission is guided by social conscience.”

“We share the same values and long term vision about the company with David: putting our bets on technology and continued optimization in customer experience, which allows us to position ourselves as the best digital bank in Argentina and the region,” said Bruchou.

Brubank has been operating in Argentina for seven months and already has 40K clients. The agreement is conditioned by the Argentine Central Bank’s approval.
