LatamList – CEmprende, a government-led campus for startup innovation in Colombia, announced its partnership with 500 Startups. The announcement came during the inauguration of CEmprende Barranquilla.
CEmprende is the largest hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in the country. It is part of the government agency INNPulsa which supports the Colombian startup ecosystem through funding, training, and mentorship.
With the opening of its new offices in Barranquilla, President Duque announced the partnership with 500 startups, one of the most prominent accelerator programs in Silicon Valley. He said that the accelerator would be supporting Colombia in its development of venture capital funds and local accelerator programs.
500 Startups is one of the most active global venture capital firms, supporting over 2400 startups across 75 different countries. The firm also previously worked with INNPulsa in 2019 to provide support for local entrepreneurial initiatives, including CEmprende.
President Duque declared the alliance a demonstration of Silicon Valley’s commitment to supporting Colombia and its growing talent in the ecosystem.
