Airwallex, a fintech lending company, acquired MexPago, a payment services provider in Mexico, with an Institución de Fondos de Pago Electrónico (IFPE) license.
This acquisition will expand Airwallex’s reach in Latin America and facilitate cross-border business transactions. Airwallex increased its revenues by 460% this year.
“The combination of MexPago’s payment capabilities in Mexico and Airwallex’s global financial infrastructure will unlock opportunities for businesses in Mexico to operate globally and for businesses across the world to operate in Mexico,” said Luis Castillejos Ordaz, CEO of MexPago.
Founded in Melbourne in 2015 and now headquartered in Singapore, Airwallex operates 20 global offices with 1,400 employees and plans to hire 500 more team members in the coming year.
