Deep Agro, an artificial intelligence AgTech startup based in Argentina, closed a $2M Seed round led by Draco Capital and supported by Grupo Dacas, BYX Ventures, Innventure, and Pampa Start. With this funding, Deep Agro plans to expand its operations to Brazil and the United States.
Founded in 2017 by Juan Manuel Baruffaldi, Juan Ignacio Cavalieri, Juan Ignacio Cornet, Iván Regali, and Marcos Mammarella, Deep Agro originated from a computer science thesis at the National University of Rosario. The agtech’s sprayers use cameras to differentiate crops from weeds, reducing agrochemical use and environmental harm.
“Our product reduces chemical usage by 70-90%, saving between $20 and $40 per hectare and lowering the environmental impact by 45%,” noted the founding team.
This move reflects a regional expansion of agricultural AI, a sector expected to grow to $4B by 2026, and the global trend towards more sustainable agricultural practices.
