Rappi, the Colombian delivery platform, acquired Indian AI company Fountain9 to strengthen its logistics capabilities. The financial details were not disclosed but the acquisition includes Fountain9’s intellectual property and part of its team, including co-founders Niki Khokale and Rajas Lonkar, who will join Rappi’s Turbo division.
“The acquisition of Fountain9 is crucial as we continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI and supply chain technology,” said Felipe Villamarín, co-founder of Rappi.
The two companies connected during Y Combinator, and Rappi has been using Fountain9’s AI solutions to improve availability and reduce waste for Rappi’s Turbo operations.
“By integrating our technology with Rappi’s extensive delivery network in Latin America, we are ready to drive unprecedented efficiency and innovation in the industry. We look forward to contributing to Rappi’s vision and creating impactful solutions together,” said Niki Khokale, Fountain9’s co-founder.
Rappi will establish a base in India to leverage local talent and aim to keep adding value to its supply chain.
