Sanar is a Brazilian edtech startup that provides customized online training for careers in healthcare. According to LAVCA reports, Sanar recently raised an undisclosed Series A round led by e.Bricks Ventures and Vox Capital to help create better training and career options to healthcare professionals in Brazil.
Four cofounders launched Sanar in 2013 from Salvador, Brazil in order to tackle the poor distribution of healthcare across the enormous country. While Brazil has excellent quality healthcare available in its largest cities, the government has notoriously struggled to create sustainable healthcare training programs in the countryside.
Sanar decided to tackle the issue at its source by creating affordable, agile content for different career paths that would provide a more pleasant experience to users. Sanar’s business model is based on books and online courses, created by industry professionals, that help train nurses, nutritionists, psychologists, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, physiotherapists and physicians. With their scalable model, Sanar has already sold 60 different books and 76 online courses to 60,000 students across 3,500 cities in Brazil.
These numbers convinced Vox Capital that Sanar was a huge opportunity. Said CEO of Vox Capital in the original press release:
“By combining education and healthcare strategies – two of our investment thesis focus – Sanar can offer better training to several kinds of professionals of the sector, increasing the access to healthcare services, specially in neglected areas that are distant from big urban centers”
Sanar will use the investment to expand their impact within Brazil and continue to improve healthcare outcomes for low income patients.
