Argentine unicorn Vercel raised $250M in a Series E funding round led by Accel, with participation from CRV, GV, Notable Capital, Bedrock, Geodesic Capital, Tiger Global, 8VC, and SV Angel. This round valued Vercel at $3.25B, a $750M markup since its $150M Series D in November 2021.
Vercel will use the funds to enhance its security products, invest in its AI development framework Vercel AI SDK, and develop v0, a generative AI product that creates user interfaces from text descriptions.
Vercel’s platform helps businesses create and deploy fast and scalable cloud-based web applications using its Next.js open-source framework.
“Today’s businesses have come to recognize the frontend as a powerful force for driving revenues. The Vercel team understood this nearly a decade ago, and is ahead of the curve on AI’s role in the future of the web as well. We remain confident in the company’s track record to take on the sizable market opportunity ahead as AI becomes a staple in how developers and enterprise teams define dynamic online experiences and web applications,” said Dan Levine, partner at Accel.
Founded in 2015, Vercel recently surpassed $100M in annualized revenue, and its Next.js has over 1 million monthly active developers. Vercel’s client base includes companies like Nintendo, Unity, Meta, Notion, and Adobe.
