Brazilian edtech Yuna lands a $1.6M pre-seed round

Brazilian AI-powered edtech Yuna raised a $1.6M pre-seed round led by Canary. Positive Ventures also participated in the round.

Yuna will use the funds to further develop its technology, grow its team, and consolidate its brand.

Yuna’s mobile app leverages artificial intelligence to create interactive and personalized children’s books, promoting reading habits during formative years.

“Research around the world links low reading rates to a negative impact on children’s imagination, critical thinking, and cognitive ability. There is a big challenge in encouraging this audience to read due to competition with new technologies, and we don’t want to fight against them but rather use them to bring reading back into the routine in a playful and interesting way,” said Louis Markham, founder of Yuna.

Founded in 2023, Yuna’s app has impacted over 40,000 families and has a 5-star rating in the App Store with over 100 reviews.
