LatAm List – Didi Chuxing, a leading Chinese multi-modal transportation platform, recently launched DiDi Engine, a Digital Innovators Initiative that seeks to train young tech talent, build R&D capacities, and develop “AI for Social Good” in DiDi’s international markets. Brazil and Chile will be among the first to establish alliances.
The announcement was made at the end of an exchange program in Beijing for young Brazilian engineers. Students from Sao Paulo University and Campinas State University took part in business coaching, AI workshops, and a programming competition.
The initiative will feature joint labs and research programs with research institutions, such as a partnership with the University of Chile to work on AI and engineering research. DiDi Engine will also be involved in tech fellowships and internship programs for young innovators, as well as App & Software development projects.
“DiDi believes in a combination of deep local expertise and respect with global technology capabilities,” said Jean Liu, President of DiDi. “Entrepreneurs thrive because of the support from communities around us. We have the responsibility to work with educators and governments to grow our future innovation leaders into not only passionate disruptors, but also committed community builders.”
