Evertec acquired a 67% stake in Connecting Blocks Consultoria S.A., which operates under the BBChain Tecnologia Blockchain brand. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 2018 and based in São Paulo, BBChain develops asset tokenization, digital custody, and blockchain infrastructure for financial institutions and capital markets.
Headquartered in Puerto Rico, Evertec provides financial technology solutions in 26 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The acquisition expands Evertec’s presence in Brazil. The company plans to broaden its blockchain offerings for investment funds, fixed income, and credit markets while using Brazil as a hub to expand these services across Latin America.
