WiPay, a Caribbean-based fintech specialized in facilitating electronic payments for businesses, launched operations in Colombia.
The fintech’s expansion includes the launch of the mobile app “COLOUR”, a digital wallet, and a virtual Visa card designed to provide secure and convenient financial solutions to unbanked people in Colombia. WiPay will offer this product to all Colombians, with a focus on reaching the unbanked Afro-Colombian population.
WiPay includes Visa Direct, which allows users to receive international money transfers for free, using only the 16 digits of their Visa card. The app will also allow users to make bill payments, top up their cell phone data, and receive microloans.
“We embark on this new and exciting venture with the launch of WiPay Colombia. Our mission is to create inclusive financial solutions tailored to the needs of marginalized communities,” said Aldwyn Wayne, CEO of WiPay Group.
Founded in 2016, WiPay currently operates in more than 10 markets and will continue to foster partnerships with companies, organizations, and institutions focused on improving the lives of Afro communities.
