Eatable Adventures’ Raíces selected Argentina’s Nunatak, Chile’s Bee Technology, and Colombia’s Koji and Sciphage to participate in its latest cohort. Each startup will receive $107K to accelerate growth and gain access to follow-on rounds of up to $1.1M.
Backed by Alianza Team, ICEX, and Bimbo Ventures, the Raíces program is a $35M initiative that helps science- and sustainability-focused startups from Spanish-speaking countries expand into global markets.
- Nunatak creates bio-inputs from extremophile microorganisms to improve soil resilience.
- Bee Technology develops natural solutions to eliminate foodborne pathogens without synthetic additives.
- Koji combines fermentation and data science to develop natural ingredients from Latin American biodiversity.
- Sciphage offers bacteriophage-based alternatives to antibiotics for livestock.
The $107K investment will help the startups scale their science and operations, including securing regulatory approvals in Colombia and Brazil, conducting field-testing with clients, expanding production capacity, hiring local talent, and enhancing their product portfolios.
“The capital will support our regulatory efforts in Brazil, allow for on-the-ground testing with local clients, and strengthen our commercial protocols and infrastructure,” added Sciphage’s founder Andrés Clavijo.
