LatamList – Globant Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the Argentine unicorn Globant, recently announced a $300K investment in two new startups: Woocar and Drixit. Woocar is a digital platform that uses AI to reduce road accidents, and Drixit helps industrial companies digitize and automate their existing processes to protect industrial workers from workplace accidents.
“In these times of adaptation and change, at Globant Ventures we seek to continue supporting the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. These two startups summarize what we look for in a startup: businesses based on new technologies like AI, [that have] high growth potential at a global scale, and an entrepreneurial team capable of executing a solid business plan,” said Martín Umaran, Chief of Staff & co-founder of Globant and General Partner at Global Ventures.
With AI technologies and research based on behavioral sciences, Woocar seeks to contribute to improving driving habits through the use of mobile sensors that evaluate the behavior of drivers and can reduce up to 80% of clients’ road accidents.
On the other hand, Drixit offers a platform to prevent and mitigate industrial workplace accidents using real-time information with configurable alerts. By analyzing and collecting information on industrial employees’ behavior, the Argentine startup has created an integrated solution that can prevent these accidents and optimize reaction time when they do occur.
“The main contribution from Globant for these startups is to bring them closer to a network of mentors to share knowledge, experiences, and contacts,” said Gustavo Martello, Operating Partner of Globant Ventures. He added, “We have the support of Endeavor Argentina, EY Argentina, and the law firm Marval O’Farrell & Mairal as strategic allies.”
Globant Ventures has invested $1M in six Argentine startups in the AI, augmented reality, logistics, IoT, and process automation fields.
