Guama raises $1.5M seed round

Colombian fintech Guama raised a $1.5M seed round led by Salkantay Ventures. Story Ventures, Hustle Fund, and Techstars also participated in the round.

Guama provides credit cards with limits starting at $50 to underbanked individuals without traditional credit history by using cashflow-based underwriting.

“We went from zero to launching a card with more than 6K active users and more than 75K applications, which shows the great interest of the Colombian market and the potential of our technology,” said Maria Paula Pinzón, Guama’s co-founder and CPO.

Founded in 2023 by former Nubank employees Maria Paula Pinzón, Alfredo Prieto, and Víctor Julio, Guama has processed over $1.6M in transactions to date.Read more on Forbes.
