In the second largest seed investment round in cybersecurity in Latin America, Hackmetrix raised US$1.5 million. Hackmetrix protects some of Latin America’s most disruptive technologies, having clients such as Mercado Libre, Betterfly and Buk. The round was led by Cometa Ventures and other investors that participated were Amador Holdings, Hero Capital, Rallycap Ventures, Ark, David Buenfil and Domingo Guerra. David Buenfil is CEO of Skandia in LatAm and Domingo Guerra is the founder of Appthority, a company acquired in 2018 by Symantec.
Founded in 2018 in Chile, Hackmetrix offers startups a platform to facilitate and systematize the implementation of a security program. This enables them to comply with regulations and obtain the certifications needed for corporate clients’ requirements. The platform allows them to strengthen their security and drive growth.
The company’s founder and CEO, Adriel Araujo, commented in more detail the purpose of Hackmetrix: “The problem that small and medium-sized technology companies suffer throughout LATAM is that they are being measured with the same rule that corporations are measured by. Since SMEs do not have the economic resources nor the human capital to overcome security audits or comply with regulations, sales and marketing efforts become a waste of time and resources that they definitely do not have to spare.”
This round of financing will be used by the company to strengthen its presence in the Mexican market, a region that has a high number of cyber-attacks.
