Kapital, a fintech specializing in financial solutions for SMEs, has acquired the Mexican Banco Autofin, a multi-banking institution focused on small and medium-sized companies.
With this acquisition, Kapital will offer a more comprehensive range of products and services to its clients, including credit cards, automatic investments, and AI solutions. Additionally, Kapital will continue to build out its digital channels, both web and app, and will also transform some of its branches into free coworking spaces with specialized wealth executives, called Kapital House.
“With the acquisition of Banco Autofin, Kapital not only enhances its portfolio of solutions but also proposes a new way of delivering financial services—more digital, more innovative, and closer to what our customers need,” explained René Saúl, CEO of Kapital.
The acquisition of the financial institution, pending approval from Mexican financial authorities such as CNBV, is an example of how fintechs and banks can collaborate to enter new markets and create new opportunities, leveraging digital technology.
Banco Autofin will continue to operate as a strictly regulated financial entity by Mexican regulatory institutions such as Banco de Mexico, CNBV, CONDUSEF, and IPAB.
Founded in 2021, Kapital’s mission is to foster SME growth by providing easier, faster, and more inclusive access to financial services. Kapitla currently operates in Mexico and Colombia and will soon expand to Peru.
