Leona Health raised a $14M seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from General Catalyst, Accel, Kate Ryder, David Vélez, and Simón Borrero.
Founded by Caroline Merin, former COO of Rappi and the first general manager of Uber Eats in Latin America, Leona Health is building an AI copilot that helps physicians manage patient communication on WhatsApp. The product identifies urgent medical requests, suggests responses, and routes routine or administrative messages to nurses or other medical staff. By filtering non-critical requests, the platform reduces the pressure on doctors to remain available outside work hours.
Leona Health will use the funding to continue product development and expand into new markets.
Leona Health has a team of 13 employees based in Mexico City and Silicon Valley. Its service is available to physicians in 14 Latin American countries and supports 22 medical specialties.
