LatamList – The Novartis Startup Challenge 2020 announced Llamando al Doctor, an Argentine healthtech, as winner of the program for its telemedicine service. The competition recognizes and supports startups that are working to redefine the health sector through technology and innovation.
Ingrid Briggiler founded Llamando al Doctor in 2017 to provide healthcare to the most vulnerable in society. The digital service is available to patients 24/7, providing online appointments with registered professionals to anyone with a phone.
During COVID-19, telemedicine has become increasingly important in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. In the past few months, the platform has booked 100,000 appointments and has over 3 million users.
âLlamando al Doctor has become an essential service as it allows patients to book hospital appointments and still stay in the safety of their homes,â said Briggiler.
Ingrid Briggiler is a gynecologist and obstetrician in Argentina. She was a finalist in the 2019 WeXchange Pitch Competition, and was recently interviewed on the WeXchange podcast as an influential STEMpreneur.
Llamando al Doctor plans to continue expanding its service across Latin America, starting with Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Peru. The startup is the first telemedicine service in Argentina.
