Mexican identity verification startup Nufi raised a $1.5M seed round led by Magma Partners and GPCompas. Semilla Ventures, Ganas Ventures, Techstars Follow Up Fund, AngelHub, and angel investors also participated in the seed round.

Nufi offers instant and secure identity verification and background checks using a photo ID as the initial data point. Its platform helps clients verify individuals or businesses, assess payment capacity, and make informed decisions when hiring, lending, partnering, or contracting services.

Nufi will use the funds to enhance its technology and expand in Mexico.

“This round allows us to accelerate what we’ve been building: technology that verifies individuals and companies in under 5 minutes. We’re going to expand our national coverage, improve our document processing and business onboarding products,” said Nufi’s co-founder and CEO Hans Villa.

Founded in 2020, Nufi serves individuals and businesses, with a B2B client base of more than 330 companies.
