The IDB Lab, the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank, approved a $2M loan for the Peruvian fintech Prestamype.
Prestamype is the leading MSE fintech lender in Peru. One of the main issues micro and small businesses in Peru face is limited access to capital that will help them grow. According to Carlos Ferreyros, co-founder and CEO of Prestamype,
“Through our innovative technology-based model, we have financed more than $40M to Peruvian MSEs since 2017. During the second half of 2022, we project disbursements of an additional $30M. Our data analysis and process optimization systems allow us to efficiently manage credit for entrepreneurs, most of whom do not have access to the traditional financial system or are underserved.”
Prestamype is currently raising a Pre-Series A round, and IDB’s loan will help the startup accelerate the expansion of its operations within Peru and provide financing to more MSEs and entrepreneurs.
Through its Pre-Series A round, the startup is planning to unlock over $40M in debt financing, expand operations to other countries and take the next step towards a software-embedded lending model.
