Prometeo, a fintech infrastructure provider for the Americas, launched Name Match, a new feature within its US Bank Account Verification API that helps businesses confirm likely bank-account ownership before sending payments.

Prometeo offers an embedded banking platform and multi-banking solution that allows corporations to connect seamlessly with financial institutions across Latin America and the U.S. Its network includes more than 1,500 connections to 1,200 financial institutions in 11 countries, giving clients automated access to financial data and transactions through a single API.

Name Match strengthens Prometeo’s verification flow by comparing a beneficiary’s name with the account holder’s official name using trusted banking-network data. The tool reduces misdirected payments and fraud, lowers the cost of ACH returns, and supports compliance with Nacha’s pre-validation guidelines.

Prometeo’s broader verification API already covers 100% of US banks and delivers ownership-evaluation results in less than five seconds, supporting real-time rails and high-volume operations without adding friction.

“Verifying that an account exists is no longer enough. Name Match supports those efforts by adding an ownership-evaluation step ahead of settlement,” said Ximena Aleman, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Prometeo.
