LatAm List – Rappi, the Colombian food delivery unicorn, is now reaching 100K users in Ecuador with 1.3K “rappitenderos” completing orders across the country.
The delivery service seeks to continue growing in the country after its launch at the start of November. In just a few weeks, Rappi already has more than 800 delivery-people in Quito and 500 in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s two biggest cities.
“In Ecuador, Rappi will support the entire ecosystem by improving the lives of users, increasing sales, and helping millions of others to receive an income,” explains Alejandro Freund, Rappi’s Ecuador Country Manager.
The expansion of Rappi into Ecuador follows a US$1B investment from the Japanese VC firm Softbank earlier this year. Rappi is now active in 9 countries in Latin American and over 50 cities.
“Ecuador is a strategic investment for Rappi, and we have created the best team to lead this expansion into the market,” comment Freund.
Rappi will be competing with the UberEats and Glovo food delivery services that already serve the Ecuadorian market.
