Tiendanube, the e-commerce platform that raised a $500M Series E in 2021, bought Argentine conversational-commerce startup VICI and folded its technology into a new product called Nuvem Chat. The WhatsApp-based tool will be available to the 160K merchants across Latin America who use Tiendanube.
WhatsApp already drives much of Latin America’s retail traffic. During a three-month beta, Nuvem Chat handled 1M+ customer conversations, and Tiendanube says the AI “transforms WhatsApp support into something faster, smarter, and brand-aware.”
Founded in 2021 by university classmates Tomás Espósito and Agustín Parraquini, VICI pivoted from a conversational commerce marketplace to an AI agent that integrates catalog, inventory, and order data straight into WhatsApp. Nuvem Chat gives 24/7 automated replies, product recommendations, and syncs with Tiendanube’s seller dashboard.
Tiendanube lets small and midsize businesses set up online stores and manage payments, logistics, and marketing tools. The company operates in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile and processes billions of dollars in GMV each year.Read more on: Startups Latam
