Uber launches program to help Latin American girls reach STEM fields

LatAm ListUber has followed in the footsteps of other tech companies in starting a program for Latin American girls that will provide fun and interactive workshops centered around science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Uber ‘Ellas’ is a proactive effort that works together with six other similar organizations (like Technolochicas, Laboratoria and Epic Queens) to close the gap between men and women in STEM careers, specifically in Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru.

“We want to contribute to eliminating the stereotype that science is not for women and minimize the gap that exists today in work spaces,” said Daniela Cuellar, Communication Manager at Uber, in an interview with Forbes Mexico.

Uber ‘Ellas’ works with girls between the ages of 7-12 and has already guided 200 young participants in Chile and 300 in Mexico.
