Uber launches Jump bikes in Santiago

LatAm ListUber recently launched “Jump”, its electric bike transportation system, into Santiago, Chile.

Jump bikes are so far available in 32 countries throughout the world. Santiago is the first Latin American city to offer this service as Uber seeks to maintain its hold on the mobility industry in the region against competitors such as Cabify and Grin.

Currently, the bikes are operating in the Las Condes region, with 1,200 bikes available across the area. The bikes will have a cost of $0.19 (CLP$150) per minute and are available between 05:00 am and 00:30 am. Clients can access the bikes through the Uber app, the same way that they can request a car trip or Uber Eats.

“At Uber, we are seeking to continue improving the mobility ecosystem in Chile […] providing new transportation options that benefit both users and cities, by reducing pollution and vehicle congestion,” said Ruddy Wang, General Manager for Latin America of Jump Uber.
