LatAm List – WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Facebook, recently launched a catalog feature for its business app. WhatsApp Business allows small business owners to connect immediately with customers. With this new feature, they can showcase their products and services through the app.
“The new function allows us to move into sales and purchases. This new tool will make it easier to create catalogs in your profile so that users can easily consult them,” said Amrit Pal, Product Lead for WhatsApp Business.
About 5M businesses use WhatsApp Business to provide customer support and service to their clients. In Mexico, some businesses like beauty salons, eCommerce platforms, and airlines are already using this version of the app. However, direct purchases have yet to be enabled on the platform in Mexico.
“We’ve tried running payments through the app in places like India but for the moment we don’t have any further details to share,” said Amrit.
This new option in WhatsApp aligns with Facebook’s long-term goals to position itself more strongly in eCommerce in the future.
